Industrial Engineer at Hyperloop One

Hyperloop-One is creating a new mode of transportation for the world. The Automation & Manufacturing Division is responsible to build and develop the processes and equipment that will build the Hyperloop. We are seeking an experienced Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of highly qualified, diverse individuals.

The Industrial Engineer will be based at our campus in Los Angeles, CA. You will be at the intersection of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, Design for Cost, throughput analysis and planning, global supply chain optimization, and quality. The effort starts with analyzing our prototype activities in Nevada and the internal and external supply chains that deliver subassemblies. We are looking for someone who is intensely collaborative and passionately focused on our internal customers.

Responsibilities

  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering during prototype, development and first article manufacturing
  • Lead our cross-functional, system wide DfX project
  • Provide strategic direction for systems to maximize efficiency of manufacturing and delivering products, at both internal and external manufacturing sources
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to recommend best solutions based on data
  • Work with production simulations to understand process bottlenecks and explore alternate strategies
  • Team member on global supply chain optimization
  • Team member on Cost Engineering initiatives
  • Team member on Quality Engineering
  • Establish critical control points in the value stream to ensure that products meet financial planning, quality standards, and demand rates
  • Develop Industrial Engineering expertise within the manufacturing department
  • Initiate and lead lean manufacturing process improvement projects

Requirements

  • Engineering degree with 5+ years of industrial engineering experience. Master Degree preferred. 
  • Experience with a wide variety of components and processes related to structural and industrial products such as motor manufacturing, metal forming, machining and fabrication of large structures, electrical subsystems, concrete and construction
  • Expertise in complex assembly methods and processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Basic CAD design experience
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified or ACE Practitioner preferred.
  • Demonstrated follow-through and project management skills
  • Excellent in Excel, math, analytical skills and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in a global manufacturing environment preferred
  • Occasional domestic and international travel to suppliers and installation sites
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized to manage many projects and details simultaneously
